IRON MAIDEN Frontman Is Looking Forward To 'Weekend Of Glorious Sunshine'
June 8, 2007IRON MAIDEN frontman Bruce Dickinson will broadcast his BBC 6 Music weekly radio program, aptly named "Rock Show", from the Download festival on Saturday, June 9. Listen to the show live via the Internet between 9:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. (midnight) U.K. time (between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. EST) at BBC.co.uk.
Commented Bruce: "I'm really looking forward to a weekend of glorious sunshine starting with a few chilled-out beers watching the sun set Saturday night before we do the 6 Music show. Then I aim to be a menace to sobriety… always expect the Spanish Inquisition. Then on Sunday I look forward to watching KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, then EVANESCENCE… and then there’s the small matter of headlining with MAIDEN. After that I'm sure I'll develop some sort of amnesia."
IRON MAIDEN will headline the main stage at this year's Download festival on Sunday, June 10. The event, which takes place June 8-10 at Donington Park, Leicestershire, England, will feature additional appearances by MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, VELVET REVOLVER, KORN, LINKIN PARK, MARILYN MANSON, MÖTLEY CRÜE and EVANESCENCE, among many others.
The Download festival is a three-day rock/metal/punk festival held annually at the spiritual home of rock music in England — Donington Park, which hosted the Monsters of Rock festivals between 1980 and 1996, and 2002's Ozzfest. It takes place in early summer, and is owned and managed by Live Nation.
Download festival 2006 — which featured headliners TOOL, METALLICA and GUNS N' ROSES — was said to be a huge success, with 75,000 visitors each day.
